Archaeology Opportunities
Location: British Columbia and Alberta         
        

H3M Environmental Ltd. is seeking motivated Archaeology/Environmental professionals to join our team and assist in our continued growth and diversification. The successful candidate(s) will champion and promote H3M’s initiatives, participate in the design, management and completion of various projects. This posting will serve as a collection for all candidates interested in the scope of work H3M provides including (but not limited to) the following positions in the Archaeology Department:

 

  • Archaeology Field Director/Supervisor
    • Assist with building and maintaining positive client relationships, focusing on providing top-quality service in regulatory expertise and following through on new business opportunities
    • Train and mentor junior and intermediate staff and demonstrate a commitment to team building
    • Maintain an understanding of applicable heritage regulations, guidelines and associated industry practices within BC
      • 2+ years of archaeological consulting and business development experience
      • Graduate of a recognized Post-Secondary institution or college in the field of Archaeology or Anthropology
      • Experience in supervising small crews

 

  • Archaeology Permit Holder
    • Assist with building and maintaining positive client relationships, focusing on providing top-quality service in regulatory expertise and following through on new business opportunities
    • Complete reports, documents, proposals as well as provide senior review of technical reports for content and accuracy
    • Train and mentor junior and intermediate staff, while demonstrating a commitment to team building
      • 5+ years of archaeological consulting and business development experience
      • Registered Professional Archaeologist (RPCA) or equivalent, or eligible for registration
      • Current Safety Tickets

  • Junior Archaeologist
    • Archaeological fieldwork under the direction of a Senior Archaeologist
    • Performs independent studies to form conclusions that are reviewed by senior professionals
    • Interacting and communicating effectively with multi-disciplinary teams, regulators, and clients
      • Completed courses in the field of Archaeology
      • 1-3 years’ work experience
      • Ability to travel and work non-standard work weeks and long days in variable weather and physical settings

 

  • Field Assistant
    • Assist with Archaeological Impact Assessments
      • Completing subsurface testing in frozen and non-frozen ground conditions
      • Assisting on AIAs on forestry and oil and gas developments
    • Assist with Archaeological site excavations
    • Assist with various environmental assessments including, but not limited to:
      • Soil and vegetation assessments; Stream assessments and classification; Wetland assessments and classification; Wildlife surveys; Leasewater pump-offs; Phase I and II Contaminated Site investigation; Spill response
