Title: Project Controls Analyst

Location: Calgary, Alberta

The Project Controls Analyst role is an embedded resource reporting to the finance department. The Project Controls Analyst will play a vital role in the project team. They will support project managers execute environmental service projects in an effective matter.  The role supports project scoping, scheduling, progress and performance evaluation and reporting to meet our client’s needs.  The successful candidate will possess a competent understanding of Project Management fundamentals and have a firm understanding of the relationship between project scope, cost, and schedule.

Role and Responsibilities: Duties include, but are not limited to;

  • Support the Project Manager in forecasting, tracking and reporting project scope, schedule, resources and budget trends
  • Identify opportunities for policy, process and procedure optimization and improvement
  • Lead in translating data into business intelligence that can be acted upon by utilizing OpenAir & Power BI
    Intelligence that also identifies cost savings or efficiency opportunities
  • Identify key project milestones and interdependencies and generate regular reports
  • Conduct regular project progress review meetings to update schedules and identify key activities (critical path) required to meet deadlines
  • Define processes and templates to organize project information (financial, scope, risk, performance, quality) and analyze regular reports and audits
  • Setup and resource new clients and projects in enterprise project management systems
  • Assist in the development of the Project Management strategy for corporate and operations teams
  • Identify, communicate, and manage potential risks to meeting scope, schedule, budget commitments and timelines to the Project Manager
  • Provide input into revenue and volume forecasts relating to asset management
  • Provide governance and implementation of Management of Change policies, processes and procedures
  • Works collaboratively with clients across functions and levels
  • Collaborates among internal and external clients and stakeholders to assure project monitoring and reporting standards and practices are executed

Qualifications and skills:

  • Degree in business or related field of study with 4-6 years of relevant work experience
  • Ability to work in teams and generate a spirit of collaboration while coordinating diverse activities and groups; people management and negotiating skills within a team environment
  • Proven financial, modelling and analytical skills required
  • Attention to detail with well-established documentation practices
  • Ability to work in a high paced environment with multiple high priority and competing assignments
  • Experience in analyzing data to draw business-relevant conclusions and recommendations
  • Can exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality
  • Self-motivated and can work independently under remote supervision Advanced working knowledge of Oracle, OpenAir and Microsoft Power BI is highly desirable
